The health benefits of cayenne are incredible. It contains capsaicin which has been documented to relieve pain.

In addition, I added some wintergreen essential oil to my salve for additional relief. Please note, however, that cayenne pepper should be avoided near the eyes, so make sure to wash your hands well after you use it externally.

To make it you’ll need:

1/2 cup olive oil
1 tbs cayenne powder
1/8 cup beeswax
6-8 drops of wintergreen essential oil (mountain rose herbs | amazon)

Infuse oil with cayenne by mixing it in a mason jar and let it sit in a cool dark place for 5-6 weeks, gently shaking the jar every day or so. Strain the oil through a cheesecloth and you’re ready to make your salve.

Add infused oil and beeswax to a double boiler. After melted remove from heat. Add a few drops wintergreen for scent. Pour into 1 ounce tins.

To use, rub a fingerful over aches and pains to soothe.

If you’re pressed for time and don’t want to make your own, you can purchase some from my shop.

Why These Ingredients Are So Good for Your Skin

Bentonite Clay
This powerful natural clay is known for its ability to draw out toxins and impurities from the skin. It acts like a magnet, helping to unclog pores, reduce excess oil, and leave your skin feeling deeply cleansed and tightened.

Activated Charcoal
Activated charcoal works similarly to bentonite clay, helping to bind to dirt, oil, and toxins. It’s especially helpful for acne-prone or congested skin, giving your pores a deep clean without harsh chemicals.

Honey
Honey is a gentle, natural humectant, meaning it helps your skin retain moisture. It’s also packed with antibacterial and soothing properties, making it perfect for calming irritation while keeping your skin soft and hydrated.

Water
Simple, but essential—water brings everything together into a smooth, spreadable paste while helping to activate the clay.

Lavender Essential Oil
Lavender is incredibly calming—not just for your mind, but for your skin too. It helps reduce redness, soothe irritation, and promotes a more even, balanced complexion.

Frankincense Essential Oil
Frankincense is often called the “king of oils” for a reason. It supports skin regeneration, helps improve the appearance of fine lines, and promotes a healthy, radiant glow.
