🌿 A Simple Path to Herbalism
If you’re new to herbalism, it can feel like there’s so much to learn all at once. I’ve found that the most meaningful way to begin is slowly—starting with a few herbs, a few simple practices, and building from there.
This is the path I would follow if I were starting over.
Step 1: Start with a Few Foundational Herbs
You don’t need a full apothecary to begin. A few well-loved herbs can take you a long way.
I’d start with:
- Chamomile → gentle, calming, and easy to use
- Lavender → supportive and incredibly versatile
- Calendula → one of the best herbs to have on hand for simple preparations
These are herbs I still use regularly.
Step 2: Begin with Tea
Tea is one of the easiest and most approachable ways to start working with herbs.
You don’t need anything complicated—just:
- dried herbs
- hot water
- a simple jar or mug
This is how I started, and it’s still one of my favorite daily rituals.
Step 3: Build a Small Herbal Toolkit
As you get more comfortable, having a few simple tools makes everything easier.
I use:
- glass jars for storing herbs
- small bottles for oils and blends
- a strainer or tea infuser
Nothing fancy—just functional and simple.
Step 4: Learn Slowly
Herbalism isn’t something to rush. I’ve learned the most by reading a little at a time and revisiting what I’ve learned.
A few books I always come back to:
- Rosemary Gladstar’s Medicinal Herbs Beginner Guide
- The Modern Herbal Dispensatory
- The Plant Clinic
They’re approachable, grounding, and easy to return to.
Step 5: Make It Part of Your Day
The most important part isn’t what you buy—it’s how you use it.
Start small:
- a cup of tea in the evening
- herbs in your kitchen
- a simple ritual you return to
Consistency matters more than complexity.

For that soft, creamy finish—it’s what makes homemade coffee feel a little more special.

A smaller cup, a slower pace and really cute! I like to put my gold spoons in it for display.

💧 Afternoon Hydration
In the afternoons, I try to slow down and hydrate instead of reaching for more caffeine.

It all starts with this huge glass.
functional powders
Adding electrolytes or probiotics for that extra umph.
