A refreshing autumn elixir with crisp apple, bright citrus, and the grounding goodness of holy basil.
There’s something about fall that makes me want to slow down, pour something delicious over ice, and take a little moment for myself. Between busy days, endless to-do lists, and the changing seasons, I love finding simple ways to bring more intention into my everyday routine. 🍂
Enter my Fall Hydration Elixir with Holy Basil (Tulsi), Apple Cider & Lemon!
This refreshing seasonal drink combines sweet-tart apple cider, sparkling lemon water, and holy basil tincture for a simple herbal mocktail that tastes like autumn in a glass.
Holy basil, also known as tulsi, is one of my favorite adaptogenic herbs. Traditionally used in Ayurvedic herbalism, tulsi is cherished for its relationship with the body’s stress response and its traditional use in supporting balance and resilience. I love incorporating this beautiful herb into my wellness rituals, especially during the busy seasons of life when a little time to pause feels extra meaningful.
And the best part? This elixir takes just minutes to make. No complicated ingredients or elaborate preparations—just a few simple ingredients, plenty of ice, and a refreshing fall-inspired drink!
Why You’ll Love This Fall Elixir
Holy Basil (Tulsi): Holy basil has a long history of traditional use in Ayurvedic wellness practices. Often called a sacred herb, tulsi is valued for its adaptogenic properties and its traditional association with balance during times of stress. For this recipe, I’m using Mountain Rose Herbs Holy Basil Tincture, made with the aerial portions of the plant. A tincture is an easy way to incorporate herbal preparations into everyday routines without having to brew a cup of tea.
Apple Cider: Apple cider brings the unmistakable flavor of fall to this elixir. Its naturally sweet apple flavor pairs beautifully with bright lemon, creating a delicious balance of fruity sweetness and refreshing citrus.
Lemon Seltzer: Lemon Seltzer adds lively citrus flavor and refreshing bubbles that balance the sweetness of the apple cider. I love how the sparkling water turns a few simple ingredients into something that feels a little more special.
Ice: A generous amount of ice keeps this mocktail crisp and refreshing while allowing the apple and lemon flavors to come together beautifully.

Make It Your Own
One of my favorite things about simple herbal drinks is how easy they are to customize.
– For a sweeter apple flavor: Add a little extra apple cider.
– For a brighter citrus finish: Use more Lemon Spindrift.
– For a cozy autumn touch: Garnish with a thin apple slice and a cinnamon stick.
– For a pretty presentation: Add a lemon wheel and serve in your favorite glass.
This is also a lovely drink to serve at fall gatherings. You can easily prepare several glasses for friends and family who enjoy a seasonal, alcohol-free mocktail.
A Little Herbal Ritual for Busy Days
Herbalism doesn’t always have to mean brewing complicated teas, preparing elaborate remedies, or spending hours in the kitchen. Sometimes, it’s as simple as adding a favorite herb to a drink you already love.
For me, holy basil is a reminder to pause, take a breath, and make room for a little more intention in the day. Pairing it with crisp apple cider and sparkling lemon water turns that small moment into a seasonal ritual I can look forward to.
Whether you’re enjoying a quiet afternoon at home, taking a break between errands, or simply embracing the changing leaves, this cozy autumn elixir is a lovely way to celebrate the flavors of the season.
Here’s to slower moments, seasonal sips, and finding a little everyday magic in your glass.
Herbal note: Follow the tincture manufacturer’s serving directions. Holy basil may interact with certain medications, including blood-sugar-lowering and blood-thinning medications. Consult a qualified healthcare professional if you take medications or have questions about whether holy basil is appropriate for you. Holy basil may not be suitable during pregnancy.
