Deodorants are filled with chemicals and heavy metals like aluminum that are linked to some serious health complications. I just don’t understand why they are allowed to be sold in stores when there are better alternatives.

Making your own is both cost effective and better for your well being and it’s super easy to do! My favorite part is you can create your own scent combinations. My favorite deodorant oils include:

Tea Tree
Lavender
Patchouli
Lemongrass
Cypress
Kunzea
Geranium
Frankincense
Rosemary
Bergamot

Here are two examples for the base. First a solid then a spray.

You’ll need:

4 tbs Shea Butter
5 tbs Arrowroot Powder
1 tbs and 1 tsp Baking Soda
20 drops essential oils

Melt shea butter over a double boiler on low heat. Remove from heat and add the baking soda and arrowroot powder. Both are odor absorbant and ideal for deodorant. Stir until well mixed. Add essential oils and stir again. Pour the mixture into deodorant tubes or a glass container. Let cool until set or put it in the refrigerator to speed things up.

Voila! Your DIY essential oil deodorant is ready!

If you prefer a spray instead, you’ll need:

4 oz witch hazel
10-15 drops essential oil

Add witch hazel to a 4 oz glass spray bottle. Top with essential oils and gently shake.
