Going through hormonal ups & downs is not a fun. It can be overwhelming & frustrating, for you & for those around you! Hot flashes, mood swings, difficulty sleeping & weight gain can be quite a hurricane. Thankfully there are some things we can do to help us navigate the storm. Here are a few tips & tricks & a free recipe that have helped me. I hope you find them useful!
My naturopath told me to try yoga & frankly I don’t know how I’ve lived without it for so long! Regular exercise helps reduce the feelings of stress & anxiousness & yoga has helped me balance my body, mind & spirit.
It might sound a bit woo woo to you, but the stretching, the breathing & the movement have really helped me release stress & has become a must for me as I continue to move through hormonal changes.
Herbs and supplements
There are so many plants that can help us with balancing our hormones, specifically herbs such as holy basil, ashwagandha, astragalus root, cordycep mushrooms, St John’s Wort, Black Cohosh & more.
Essential oils like clary sage & specially formulated blends can help with stress relief & imbalance. There are also several supplements derived from these amazing plants that provide another alternative to research for ourselves & to discuss with our physicians and/or naturopaths.
make healthier choices
The food we eat has a big impact on how we feel. Sometimes our food choices aren’t just what we eat, but what we don’t eat. Avoid or decrease sugar, alcohol & caffeine and increase your intake cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower and brussels sprouts.
Also avoid processed foods & too much red meat & choose fish, legumes & nuts instead. I can share lots of great recipes to help get you started.
recipe: Her Roller
Let’s face it, if mama aint happy then nobody’s happy! This roller does wonders for me. You’ll need: 15 drops Endoflex, 15 drops Clary Sage, 10 drops Ylang Ylang, 10 drops Progessence Plus and carrier oil (like fractionated coconut oil or grapeseed).
Put essential oils into an empty 10ml roller bottle. Top off with carrier. Place top on and gently shake. Apply to bottom of feet and back of neck at bedtime.
